Thank you

Noticed some tiles being reshuffled here and there once again. Tiles have been moving during the past few weeks. They are well placed now; and to whoever who did that favor for us, thank you :)

Mango sticky rice which gerry and me decorated and shaped to be Mickey Mouse.... or not. Cher made the sticky rice!

Sleeping beauties after watching Chocolate
The Sleeping Beauty

Sunrise at bedok jetty. Pity we didn't get to see the egg-yolk sunrise. First pic is taken under a 30-second exposure. The streak in the sky is a passing airplane, and the orange part at the bottom of the pic is the pavement which I had set my camera upon.

Who's up for another Wreck-My-House-Day?

TAIWAN

Heya all!

Another (climbing) travel sharing post!

But first! For oyster fans! Once you have tried Taiwan's oyster omelet and mee-sua, you wont want to have Singapore's anymore. Grin...

This, my friends, is where we went to climb =] The place is called 龙洞 (Dragon Cave) and it's really beautiful; it's along the coast with the vast ocean right beside you. Just the breath-taking scenery alone makes it worth the trip; besides, it's only an hour's drive from Taipei city.

Bonus: NO mozzies. Just need sunblock for the morning

Was lucky enough to join one of the local climbing teams on their weekend climb there; very friendly and fantastic people (even gave us their team's t-shirts! haha) Real pro too, all doing trad climb with so much equipment racked up on them; you all should have seen the distance between their protection points, really got balls man...

This is the wall in one of the coves where they did their trad multi-pitch training. They even took their lunch up at the anchor point.

And this is me. At one of the walls with bolted routes... sad... no experience or ability to join them on trad climbs. End up still got thrashed by the route.

Of course not forgetting dear liying =]
(the rock formation in the backdrop is an iconic feature of the area)

And not forgetting the nice ice-cold beer at the end of every climbing day! Good stuff.

Alrighty, just some photos here, can post up the link to the rest of the photos when I've uploaded them and if anyone is interested. Taiwan has really nice food, scenery, people and climbing; it's really a place worth visiting. While you are over there, try going for some activities, besides climbing, like river tracing, mountaineering, canoeing, etc with the locals; will definitely be worth it =] It's another way to experience the beauty of Taiwan.

On a serious note, especially with many people going on climbing trips this holiday, please please be mindful of safety; check your equipment, ensure safety checks/procedures/precautions are followed and do not treat lightly any signs of danger, human, nature or otherwise. Make sure you are aware of your actions at all times and of their consequences.

I sound naggy... but I want to remind this because... one of the climbers I got to know in Taiwan, fell during a climb and has passed away. I climbed with her just the day before. She was only 27 years old. Details are sketchy on the reason/cause but nevertheless, please always be careful, regardless of your level of climbing experience/prowess. No doubt we all want to have fun climbing and want to take up challenges, but remember, the dangers of this sport are very real, and very severe.

Please always keep safe for yourself and look out for your friends.

Alright, with that said, hope everyone have fun and have lots of ascents for the upcoming climbing trips =]
