Ipoh Tambun Beta (accuracy not guranteed)

Here's route 10 and 11, namely Latrine (6b+) and Over the shoulder boulder holder(6c+), both 35m long. [Route 10 in blue, route 11 in red]

A closer look at the mid-section (most likely crux) of Latrine:

And here's route 17 - Roots and Fruits (4b):

Think LL will most likely solo this, but this is not a dare. And safety is priority.

Junxian has kindly reminded me that Sheares Hall's supper not ready until about that time..

study study study!

Tuesday morning, the OKR animals, reg, fel, daffodil and jun xian went to the good ole library to STUDY for the exams!

and due to some reasons, reg, fel, daffodile and jun xian had to be late and Mr "Nice" kesheng told us to hurry up because the lib was getting packed. i asked him to "chope" seats for us and he refused, saying he wasnt as thinkskinned as us to do that! grrrr

anw, we managed to sit with them and had a good time studying. though some people decided to take a short break.POWERNAPS ROCK!

these are some snapshots of very hardworking people.haha.

guess who!?!?!
this should be easy=)

the library is infested with peoplestudyin!its soo scary and its so unlike me to be at the library and frankly speaking, it is my 1st time staying so long in the NUS library.wahaha. but is was pretty productive!

dinner time: we took bus A2 to PGP!to eat a good dinner after a long study session.

PS: WALL'S paid us to do this advertisment. Earnings was GOOD!=)

CHEERS!

i didn't cheat!! but overshot a bit haha *paiseh* and yes, it's bloody difficult, but very addictive! (:

de-stress anyone?!?!?!

hey peopleee!i know the exams are coming and u need time to destress too huh!=)

for those who have seen ningfeng's email regarding some "free rice" website, and have tried playing the word game. well, heres the CHALLeNGE of the week.

go to this website http://www.freerice.com/index.php and play the word game. the challenge is to see who can get the highest vocab level with getting only 600 grains of rice. thats the limit. its not as easy as you think coz for each wrong, 1 level is minus-ed but to increase each level, you have to get a few right words first!

heres how the rules are. after every session, you have to take a screenshot of the website with the total grains of rice and the vocab level shown in it and post it up! regina and i are hosting this competition!haha.so we will judge the validity of your game. the one with the highest level will get a nice nice prize from the both of us=)

how to take a screen shot: its one of the "F" buttons, eg: F12 for a IBM, eg: F7 for a mac. (its a button with 2 squares)=)

but dont get addicted to it, this shd be played when u r taking ur little breaks off studying=)

and no cheating by checking the dictionary!spoil the fun!=p

ok!thats all!have fun studying everyone!

feliciaaa=)

The Day KS lost his friend

KS used to be a nice little boy. He used to be lighter than me but now he weighs a whopping 70 kg! While me, being the all fair and dainty climber miraculously now weighs less than him at a nice number of 67.2 i-am-lighter-than-ks-now-huahuahua-kg.

But he still climbs so much better than me x_x

But that is not the point of today! Today after the training at ITE Balastier, we went to eat at Golden Mile haha! I had char kway teow for my entree, ayam penyet for mains with the side dish of satay...and I am still lighter than KS! GLORY. FAME. And you realized that the past two paragraphs are just another ego-stroking session with me.

Here is what we found in the gym today, much to our dismay. Today is the day where KS and us lost a dear friend. His name is Brain the Pink Tile. Yes, the tiles that you guys love to hold so much that puts cucumbers to shame.

KS: Pinky! Pinky! Do not leave us! (those legs are Peng Yang's...he is still single)

The middle part broke off, erm...so now, you can't even screw in any screw into the tile. The tile just lost its middle part la, to put it mildly. We are not sure who did that as we did not climb on Friday. The dinos who where there today already saw the tile being turned but they did not realize the severity of it until we decided to check it out.

In short, we do not know who did that to the tile that has made climbing in NUS and all the Boulderactives so much more interesting. Anyway, the tile is in the gym now and some of us (notably KS, as the brain is really his good friend) is trying to find a solution to salvage it. Any brilliant ideas please forward them to KS or the team.

I leave you with this poignant picture of different generations coming together for a common cause: to salvage Pinky.

Pinky, it was fun. Although it has been a short time, you did made my climbing fun. Do post up comments on your memorable moments with Pinky too. I think that she would really appreciate it.

Goodbye Pinky :(

Just a follow up to Benny Lava...Girly Man!!! (subtitles by the same dude) Especially hilarious for those of you who've seen the original Michael Jackson 'Thriller' vid (:

Lunch at Science Canteen on 16 Nov 2007

Those around her had to be frogs.
Some of her subjects were forced to kneel before her.
A crazy-eyed jester who trawls her court.
Latecomers were left to entertain themselves.

Such is HRH Regina Huang's reign of terror in the canteens of NUS. Climbers beware.

Scary Flying Coco

Another worthy quote from supper @ Fong Seng ...
HRH Regina: ... Aiya, I just don't like her (Coco) ...
OJW: But why? Everyone likes Coco ...
Unnamed female climber: ... Yayaya, Cockroach very scary ... especially when they fly ...
*sudden silence*
Jups: I also think so ... I'd be very scared if Coco starts flying too ...

By Decree of Her Royal Highness, Regina: Utter Pureness, Protector of Small Animals, Defender of the Faith, Mistress of All That is Good.

I her servant, humbly submit these pictures.

what is a LIU LI????

This was the quote of the night from an unnamed female climber at Fong Sengs.

A note on Shit Stirrer, 6b+

This is a note on Shit Stirrer, 6B+, the endurance route on the tsunami wall marked with white tape and blue words.

Tiles 1 and 3 are slightly elongated, and they tend to turn when you hold the edge. Holding the edge is tempting and practical but really, due to your weight, you will turn the tile. Of course we tried to tighten it already. Many times too. But I think that no matter how we tighten it, the tile will still turn due to the nature of the tile.

Toot, why not screw in a screw to prevent the rotational motion?
It will damage the wall.
Then, why not change the tile?
You change lo.
Screw ni. Why not you change the tile yourself?
I think the tiles are placed nicely enough to warrant my inaction.
So how now brown cow moo?
Hold the center of the tile la, near the screw hole there.

If you turned the tile when you are doing ARC, or when you stepped the tile, or when you are doing a route, please turn it back.
Thank you.

Actually, this may help you to be ready for natural climbing. Many rocks can be loose on the natural wall and it is a common misconception among gym rats that all tiles are solidly solid for your convenient yanking (read: the route stimulates natural climbing zomg!).
Again, on the other hand, this may just be another case of normalizing deviance where people are accepting that tiles in the gym can be loose now.

Breakthrough Routes

"Gau gaaaer gaar gaa gaa gauuu. Rarr gau mua gaagaa gaa. Gragaga gau."

Remember to bring finger tape and plasters to try my breakthrough route on Sunday or Monday. It is going to blow your mind and fingers apart. Gau.

Also,

"When you do hard routes, you have to try hard. They’re not easy routes. You have to give everything you have. You have to get totally animalistic. When you’re super pumped, I have to yell to bear down. I remember seeing Boone Speed yelling his way up routes. That had an affect on me. It’s like martial arts. When Bruce lee threw a punch, he had to mean it. Haahhh! (simulating karate grunt). Like that. When you’re doing a hard move, there is this excess energy you have to let out. Air explodes out of you."

okr animals

Decided that so many tiles lying around larh-geeeh wasted so a very bo-liah route setting/ tile screwing team decided to do something about it!

--Screwing around-->

This time we mainly targetted the Tsunami. If you think there are a lot of tiles, wait until u see the top of the tsunami!! (not in pic) Zhengxin was seriously enthusiastic in putting tiles where no one would use them. :D

If you look closely, you will see lots of tape, yes they are the 2 brand new endurance routes, have fun projecting.
OKR Animals (7A) and Shit-stirrer (6B).

Kesheng has also set a very new age, footwork intensive and techincal (7A+ or more???) on the 15 deg wall. If you think the grades are too hard, well pai-seh we got a bit carried away.

Many thanks to Adrian, Zhengxin, Elisa and Kesheng.

Also Ronghui who lent a hand and PY who was with us not in body but in heart.
