Will it be the first deep water solo? We will see...

5th June, it comes so near. I still cant believe that finally Im going to yang shuo for real, especially after getting the 14 days of leave from my project prof. However now it hurts me so much cos I cant focus on my work le!!! Aya! anyway I decide to post sth interesting in this sleepy afternoon (although it should be working time)...... DEEP WATER SOLO

Im sure every climber want to do DWS one day except Ja sheng cos he cant SWIM haha. Just kidding. He is still the man cos he lead most of the routes for us in krabi. We used to have an opportunity to try DWS there last year. I still remember the 4 of us (alv, weimin, js and me) tying our glasses on the head and finally decide to do it. But then in the end we were told the tide is too high which maybe a bit risky :-( That's probably the only regret for me in krabi...

Then I surprisingly found that there are also some places in yang shuo are available for dws. But instead of falling into the sea, u will fall into the famous river in china- 漓江 haha

Anyway, Im so bored now that i finished almost all the articles posted in our blog before. One thing Im just wondering is that: How come Mr. Adrian still haven't produced the "water proof chalk"? I thought u r study material eng haha... we realy need that if some of us doing deep water solo one day :)

Rockmaster 2007!

In case anyone is still unaware of the Rockmaster 2007 results! Our metal winners are!

Open Women:
3rd - Kelly (will progress to 2nd in time to come)
Finalists - Baoyan, Suzanne

Open Men:
5th - Chrisster
Finalist - Kesheng

Intermediate Women:
2nd - Shumei

Intermediate Men:
1st - Ningfeng
4th - Edwin
5th - John
Finalists - Yixiang, Junwei

Think the results are pretty good and shows that the NUS climbing team can perform away from home as well! Well done everyone! Besides that, think it's great that the team has a growing presence in the Open category; maybe we'll be able to challenge SP in this area soon!

With so much potential in the team, really looking forward to Pumpfest, hope we can deliver a good peformance too! Ganbatte everyone! As a teaser, there might be lots of changes and initiatives in the coming academic year so look out for them. Plus with a new batch of team entrants coming in soon, the team will only get livelier. Haha.. Sounds so optimistic. But it is!

Home made fingerboard

John and I have been wanting to build our very own finger board to feed our obsession. And this is my result.

Materials: 1 Ikea wood board = $7
4 Ikea bookshelf mounting brackets
= $ 20
1 pair of crimps = $17
1 pair of pinches = $ 25

Total Cost: $ 73

Something to do when there's nothing else to do at home = ~priceless.

I offer my building services at $7.5/hr, materials not included.

Sin Hoe Hin Wanton Mee

The blog's been inactive for pretty long, so i think i'll post something interesting.

Monday, before training, pengyang charles and i went for a little makan trip. but what's more important is this discovery i made. it's near Climbasia, and it's damn good.

It's Sin Hoe Hin KL-Style Wanton Mee!!!

It's at 12 Rowell Road, which is just a stone's throw from Farrer Park MRT. And VERY NEAR Desker road for those interested.

It's situated in a humble and rag-tag looking shophouse, and it sells only wanton mee. that speaks a lot for the quality of the food. and as i visit the makansutra forum and local foodblogs often (that's where i found out about them), i must agree with them that this has got to be the best Wanton Mee in Spore.

The dark sauce is flavourful and not salty, the mee kia al dente with enough bite and not soggy at all, and the wantons, phwah. i'll call them giant wantons. the meat filling is not the meagre dollop you get at mediocre hawker centre stalls, it's really a lot and the water chestnut, carrot and black fungus inside just adds to the satisfaction. and i must say, it's more meat than skin! and the char siew is not those boiled-and-coated-with-red-dye kind. it's got a home made taste, exactly the same as the ones my mom makes. a hint of honey and wine, succulent and sweet.

For $3, you get 3 of these great wantons and 2 deep fried wantons which are not oily and won't give you that 'jelak' feeling from eating too much oily stuff. it's really damn good for someone who always complains about his noodles. don't order the milo peng1 though, no power at all.

next time, whoever wants to eat there can jio me. it's open from 730am to 130pm daily except tuesdays.
